Adviser/Student Ratio Criteria
The adviser/student ratio must be not less than one adviser for every
12 high school students and not less than one adviser for every 10 middle level students.
Security and Enforcement
Advisers are responsible for students at all times. LEAD Conference security will monitor the hotel hallways during and after curfews.
Adviser Professional Development
All LEAD Conferences offer professional development to advisers through a full training program that runs concurrent with the student program. Advisers will take part in sessions that are designed with their unique needs in mind andled by experienced advisers and nationally known speakers and presenters.
Sessions will be offered on such topics as fundraising; teambuilding; communication; teacher recognition and motivation; leadership; and most importantly, the long-term impact advisers have on the students they teach. The LEAD Conferences also include the ever-popular Adviser's Idea Exchange, which has frequently been rated as the most valuable opportunity for advisers to obtain new ideas and share information.
CEU Certificate for Advisers
By
participating in a LEAD Conference, advisers may earn continuing education
units (CEUs). LEAD Conferences are approved to provide 1.3 CEU credits for
13 hours of continuous educational training. Advisers should check with
their school districts to see if these credits can be applied toward their
educational requirements.
What Else?
In addition to special training tracks and presentations, Saturday will be filled with interactive student and adviser workshops, idea exchanges, large group leadership sessions and an opportunity to hear first-hand from speakers and presenters who collectively offer 150 years of experience.
